Amazon Giveaway!

Why, hello there!

I’m giving away a Kindle version of “unLEASHed” (my dystopian, mature YA novel from 2015 that becomes less sci-fi and more psychic with every passing day…), and I want you to enter!  No, you don’t get a Kindle.  It’s JUST for a copy of “unLEASHed.”

If you don’t like your odds of winning, you can ensure you get this prize by straight up buying a copy (and that way, you’re guaranteed to join Cordeleya on the quest to live unLEASHed, but it’ll cost you $2.99 plus tax).   I like the feel of winning, so I’ll understand if you enter to win and buy it later, if you don’t win, and well, hopefully, you’ll win!  (I don’t control the odds or the drawing for the prize, but I can cheer each of you on!  Woo hoo!  Good luck!)

As We Look to the Future…

No matter one’s political views, history happened this week.  In the United States, we got a new President.  With the change in leadership, it is natural to look towards and think about the future.

In my first venture into writing a science-fictionesque novel, I wrote “unLEASHed.”  It gives a potential version of life in 2034.  Personally, I hope life doesn’t become the world I created for the book.  Alas, as life unfolded in the year and a halfish since the book’s release, I saw more and more evidence that it might just be a psychic book rather than a sci-fi book.

So, on this historical weekend, to commemorate the possibilities that come with a new presidency, I am giving away the Kindle version of “unLEASHed.”  I won’t tell you what to think, but I hope it gives you something to think about while you’re reading it.

And well, FREE is a price that fits every budget.

Thanks for reading.

I’m trying something new.  New is always a little scary, but if we always do what we’ve always done, the results we can expect are well… not typically new.  So, without additional ado, here’s a link for my first ever Amazon giveaway:

The prize is a Kindle version copy of my fifth book, “unLEASHed.”  I intend to have more books in Cordeleya’s series, but I release them strategically, in accordance to the timing of certain events in my Persephone Smith series.  (Perhaps I have a reason for that…)  Therefore, at the moment, “unLEASHed” is the first and only book available in that series.

So, spread the word, enter, enjoy, and let’s see how this goes.  Something new.

Now, I’ll go chow down on comfort food and snuggle up with a fleece blanket as I wait to see how this all turns out.

Thanks for reading!

A Deleted Scene (from Wicked Together)

Movies have deleted scenes.  Books have edits.  But when an entire chapter is just way too adorbs to leave on the cutting room floor, why not give it to the readers?

So, this chapter was originally “Chapter twenty-one” in Wicked Together, my soon-to-be-published novel (the sixth in the Persephone Smith series).  In this book, Persephone is a junior in high school and more boycrazy than ever.  Heaven help her parents.

Enjoy!  (And be on the lookout for the chapters that actually made it into the final version of Wicked Together, coming very soon to your favorite bookseller!)

Nauseating Flirtation

“What color are your eyes?” Harley randomly asked me amid homework, on a nondescript October day.

“You don’t know what color my eyes are?” I criticized, turning away from him so he couldn’t get a glimpse. “How do you not know what color my eyes are? You’ve looked into them enough times!”

“Duh! I just don’t know how you describe them. Right around the pupils, they almost look like sapphire blue, or something. I’ve never seen that color in order to put a word on it, but… then as you move from the center outward, they become shades of emerald, peridot, and seraphinite. But then the outside of the iris comes alive with topaz so deep and rich that it reminds me of root beer. So, like when you’re filling out a form that asks you your eye color, what the hell do you put? Your eyes are blue, green, and brown.”

His description left me speechless. Yes, that was exactly the color of my eyes. He hadn’t not noticed… he just wanted a simplified answer. “Hazel,” I replied. “I call them hazel. Mom’s got the same problem, so she calls hers hazel, and I call mine hazel because I don’t know what they’re called either.” I turned towards him, but he closed his eyes before I could make eye contact with him.

“What color are mine?” he questioned.

“A blue so pure that waters cry foul for not being able to compete with their intensity,” I noted.

He opened his eyes and stared deeply into my sapphire, emerald, peridot, seraphinite, and topaz eyes. “Well, you could have guessed that because blondes usually have blue eyes.”

“Harley!” I chastised, but his hug alerted me that he was simply teasing me.

“For the record, your description was almost poetic. Mrs. Wright-Moore would be proud.”

“I doubt Mrs. Wright-Moore has ever seen eyes like yours.”

“Or yours. Unless she was here when your mom went to school.”

“Mom went to Rutland,” I informed him.

“Lucky.” He finally let go of me. Okay, so that was a too-friendly-to-just-be-friends hug, but we really were just friends! Well, friends with an exceptional knack for describing the most mundane details about one another. “Hazel.” “Blue.” There. Simple. But no. Cuz Harley’s eyes were no more blue than my eyes were hazel, and we both knew it.

I Need Readers!

Hello, Readers!

Last year I self-published my fifth book in the Persephone Smith series, “Wicked Confessions.”  I have also entered it into a contest on Inkitt.  The contest has 100 people read each entered book (you sign up for whichever book you’d like to read), and the top three highest rated books get traditionally published.

So, the contest is about to wrap up and I have ZERO readers.  No, you read that right.  Despite all my contacts on social media, nobody has signed up to read “Wicked Confessions,” for free, on Inkitt, yet.  Therefore, IF you think you could help me out by reading and loving my book (It is right there on Inkitt, so you just read it right on your favorite technology device and love every scandalous chapter without paying a cent!), please do!  And please pass the word on to anyone else who would love my book, too!

If I want to crack through into mainstream name recognition in young adult novels, I have to try new tactics, and entering this contest was an attempt to reach a wider audience.  If one reader devours this novel due to this effort, mission accomplished.  (And if 100 readers do so, cha-ching!  You’ll be seeing my books everywhere in no time!)

Keep living the dream, and thanks for reading.

My First Book Trailer

I discovered videography when I was fifteen.  Loved it.  Couldn’t get enough.  Considered pursuing it professionally, but I chickened out and went for the sure thing career of being a teacher.

Sure thing?  Ha.  I should’ve done video production.

But I don’t live life in what if scenarios, and I doubt my life would be that much better had I gone to school in Boston and majored in video production or communications or whatever I would’ve majored in.  And I’ve always believed there are ways to integrate video production into whatever I’m doing in life.

Thus, I’ve been itching to make a book trailer (like a movie trailer, but for my BOOKS, as I haven’t signed over any movie rights yet), and tonight, I finally made one.  In the future, I’d like to have music to use (I don’t have rights to any music) and video footage that I’ve filmed, but given that it’s my first effort at a book trailer, I don’t think it’s so bad.

So, enjoy!  It’s only thirty seconds long, so pop on over to YouTube and give it a view!  Thanks!
